2 cups flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup very softened margarine (for bottom layer)
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
2/3 cup margarine (for making caramel)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Grease an 8-inch baking pan.
Combine flour, brown sugar and 1/2 cup margarine.
Press into bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
Sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
In a sauce pan, heat 2/3 cup margarine and 1/2 cup brown sugar over medium heat. Stir often so that sugar doesn't burn on bottom of pan.
Let the mixture boil until bubbles start forming.
Very quickly pour the caramel over the pecans as evenly as possible. Use a spatula to spread mixtures over any missed spots.
Bake for 18 minutes, then remove from over right away.
Evenly sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
Let the chocolate melt and then swirl with a knife.
Cool completely then refrigerate.
Cut into squares once hardened.
